The Homestead Ridge Progress Association received Kwinana Community Funding in 2021 to create and install a series of mosaic panels along the pathways of reserves and parks around Homestead Ridge to beautify the area.
Association secretary Hilary Belohlawek said 12 people were involved in creating the six mosaics featuring birds observed in the area.
“The project was a great success with new skills learned, new friendships made and happy mornings spent together,” she said.
“Most of the materials and tools were purchased by the grant, with some small donations of tiles from members of the group, and some tiles and larger cutting and grinding equipment were supplied by the coordinator Yvonne Ellis.”
The Association members combined the launch of the mosaics with the Homestead Ridge Progress Association’s 30th birthday in October last year and were actively supported by the City’s Place Leader (South) and Arts and Culture Officer.
